… and my Q goes Ka-Glom!!

I can almost hear it… KAGLOM (echoes through the blogosphere).

Hot on the heals of the Motorola game development announcement comes the launch of a new site full of games for the Motorola Q… www.jetpackgames.com.  A try me now feature allows a 3 day free trial before needing to purchase an activation key.

Half of the games are currently “coming soon” so I chose one of the available games that sounded interesting… Ka-Glom. It downloaded in less than 30 seconds on my broadband connection and didn’t even take that long to transfer the .CAB file over to the storage card on my MotoQ. Installation was a snap using the File Manager to find the file where I stored it. Once the installation was complete, the Ka-Glom shortcut was conveniently placed in the Games folder (found by scrolling through the Start menu). Then, ka-glom!! er, kapoot!!! The Mobile Windows OS gave a “we’re sorry” message and the program didn’t launch. After sending two errors off to Microsoft (who wouldn’t? it’s free after all <LOL>) I was presented with a white screen (of death??). Yep, moments later it gave me another sorry message. Oops… looks like JetPack needs to do some more QA. Hit the Home button and escape from the land of Kaglom.  Oh, and use Task Manager to kill the kaglom file or the hits (error messages) keep on coming.

Trying again, I chose Proteus. Oops… a 404 error (file not found) for the target .CAB file. I’m not a big chess player, but didn’t want to give up so I tried the “Medieval Kings Chess II” download.  Oops… there’s that nasty sorry message again.  This time, however, it’s a black screen of death.  I’ve got no desire to try the Brain-Up so I’m going to sit on the sidelines and wait for JetPack Games to update their files before I take another stab at installing the games.

Your mileage may vary… let me know if you’ve had better luck!
